Principal's Report
Dear Families,
It has been a busy two weeks, with many fun and exciting events happening around the school. Last Friday, Mrs Davies class presented at assembly. Presenting at assembly really builds the confidence of our students, as they proudly share their learning.
Last week, our Year 6 students attended the Melbourne City Camp this week, visiting many different venues. The Queen Victoria Market and MCG tour was very popular with our students – many of whom were very tired when they returned!
While our Year 6 students were away, our Year 5 students spent three days engaged with the student leadership course. Students reflected on what makes a great student leader, their own values and qualities, how to work with people they don’t usually work with and listened and asked questions of the guest speakers. I was pleased to hear their personal pledges as they all moved from their “L plate” to their “P plate”. I am very much looking forward to reading and hearing their student leadership applications for 2025. Thanks to Mrs Lockyer, Mrs Carey and Mrs McDonald for running this engaging and high-quality program.
We also had a visit from our friends from Midlands Kindergarten. They seemed very excited about their visit, and I thank our Foundation teachers for arranging the visit.
Last Wednesday we had fourteen Principals from Ballarat and surrounds visit the school to observe and learn about our Reading program. Ballarat North was chosen by them due to our exceptional NAPLAN Reading results this year and the quality teaching and learning across the school. They commented on how calm, engaged and focused our students are on their learning. Thanks to our teachers and students for making them welcome on the day.
This week on Wednesday our 2025 Foundation students attended. It was very exciting to see so many smiling faces and meet our new student, parents and families!
Our Year 4 students have been away on camp at the Grampians for the past three days. We look forward to hearing about their adventures!
Enjoy the weekend.
