Our 2025 Celebrations!

We did see NAPLAN growth in all areas of Year 3 English including Reading, Spelling, Grammar &  Punctuation and Writing this year.  This was pleasing results to see after the introduction of our PLD (Structured Phonics program) over the past 2 years.  Students are using learnt phonemes(sounds)/grapheme(letter) knowledge and applying this to their reading and writing. We have tracked data with improvement across year levels and identified a small percentage of students who still require extra practice. The program has been implemented from Prep to Year 4 with full implementation across the school in 2025.  We are very excited about this and acknowledge the importance phonics as a foundational skill to reading and spelling.  Students are also taught spelling rules, explicit vocabulary instruction and the study of word origins.

Our new maths instructional model saw an increase in student agency with students solving real life problems, trailing and sharing strategies with others and being supported and challenged with enabling and extending prompts.  We know all learners are individuals and require different supports to ensure they continue to thrive and show improved learning gain and our teachers do this by using assessment data to plan targeted support and extension.    Our students' responses to the 'Attitudes to School' data highlighted 82% of students believe they receive a differentiated learning challenge and 73% of our students demonstrate learning confidence.   Here at PVN we strive for continual improvement and we are excited about our future work in 2025.  We will further our knowledge and understanding of 'Evidenced Based Literacy' practices to ensure we provide the very best education for your children.
