Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of the families who attended the Open Afternoon on Thursday evening. It was great to meet so many of you and show you around our learning community. For those who were unable to attend, the presentation will be shared with you. Please reach out if you have any questions. 

Students shared their special celebration photos with their peers. We have some well travelled children in our cohort! 

Next Week’s Learning: 

Religious Education focus: We will be looking at the members of Jesus' family and why Jesus' family is special. 

Structured Literacy focus: Students will learn to read and spell words using the ‘Silent Final E’ rules (which words require a silent final e and why). The story, ‘Tom Tom’ will be read and students will unpack key vocabulary within the text. For writing, students will undertake activities relating to the read story and will review the conjunction ‘and’.

Mathematics focus: We will be beginning to look at different strategies to assist when solving two-digit addition and subtraction problems. This week we will learn the number line and bar model strategies as well as interpreting worded problems. 

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: This term we will be learning about our Emotional Literacy. 

Reminders:

On Wednesday March 26th we will have our community Mass at 9:30am, all families are invited to attend.

We will be beginning to look at family tree's in the next couple of weeks. If you could discuss with your children the members of your family who they would like to include in their family tree (eg: immediate family - parents, grandparents, siblings, etc).
