Year Five - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families, 

Thank you to all the families who were able to attend the open afternoon. We can’t believe that students have been to school for 4 weeks now. The students have settled into their classroom routines smoothly and are ready for their learning with their mini whiteboards. They are looking forward to the Athletics day on this coming Monday 24th. Please ensure that they are wearing their sports uniform.

A reminder to ensure the students have a nice healthy snack for their fruit break as well as their recess snack and lunch food.  A nice filled water bottle also helps the brain during the day.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus:

Next week students will continue to be looking at our central focus of 'We weren’t made for Comfort, we were made for Greatness'.  

English Focus

Students will continue reading and responding to our class novel, War Horse by Michael Morpurgo next week. They will begin to start looking at how a persuasive text is written and the structure and features.

Mathematics Focus

Next week, students will begin to understand multiplying two-digit numbers using a written algorithm as well as using factors to solve division problems.

Auslan Focus

In Auslan, students will check their understanding of the terms covered so far. They will demonstrate their learning by using expression, asking routine questions with Auslan signs, and signing simple exchanges such as 'hello' or 'goodbye' with a teacher or friend.

Social/ Emotional Learning Focus

Students will identify events or experiences that might trigger differing emotions at different levels of intensity and discuss what emotions they are.

Reminders

• On Monday 24th February we have our 3-6 Athletics Day at Casey Fields.

• On Wednesday March 26th we will have our community Mass at 9:30am, all families are invited to attend.
