Can you believe that we are now halfway through the first term here at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School? What a fantastic term we have had so far! It has been wonderful to see all students settle in and find their routine with their new teacher and classmates.
Meet the Teacher
Thank you to all the families who joined us for the Meet the Teacher evening on Wednesday night. Whether in person or online, it was great to see stronger relationships being built between families and the school. Having a strong dialogue between us helps our staff to best understand the needs of your children. Overall, our staff have reported the day to be a big success, as it was great to see families and education staff working side by side to see the children thrive.
NAPLAN
Beginning on Wednesday the 12th of March, all Grade 3 and Grade 5 students at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School will be completing their NAPLAN tests. Overall, there are four tests to be completed – Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy. If you have any concerns about your child sitting the NAPLAN tests, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher. You can find more information about the NAPLAN process here: https://www.nap.edu.au/docs/default-source/default-document-library/naplan-information-brochure-for-parents-and-carers.pdf
Community Events
Stay tuned for the communications over the next few weeks regarding special events. Before the end of term, we will be holding special Harmony Day, Iftar and Easter celebrations – something that I’m told is a bit of a tradition here at our school. If you would like to donate or be involved in the organisation of these events, please reach out to our school office. After seeing how many families joined us for our assembly this week, I am looking forward to providing more opportunities to bring everyone together in a positive and supportive manner.
If you would like to get involved in planning school community events, please reach out to the school office, and register your details. If there are enough people interested, I’d love to put together an event planning sub-committee in the future.
Have a safe and relaxing weekend,
Brock Wilson
