Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future. We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.

Continual School Improvement

At Kalinda we are very proud of the high quality learning and wellbeing support that is provided by our teachers. They are highly professional, conscientious and hard working.

In order to continually get better, we work together each year to focus on some key areas of improvement and this is documented and monitored in our Annual Implemenation Plan (AIP).

In our 2025 AIP we have three key areas that we are working on:

  1. Student agency – development of agreed-documented practices that ensure student agency and quality goal-setting
  2. Numeracy     - review, refinement of instructional model to build capacity in applying mathematical reasoning in problem-solving
  3. Literacy          – development of consistent documented approach to the teaching of grammar and punctuation

These 3 goals inform the individual improvement goals of our leaders and teachers, they inform the work of our vertical Curriculum Teams and they are key focus areas for Professional Learning.

Learning new skills and striving to improve ourselves is a key element of our staff culture, and we are always proud to model this for our students. Being lifelong learners is so important for everyone, and it allows us to be highly engaged, challenged and enjoy our roles.

School Council Elections

We are calling for nominees to join School Council.

We have 3 parent member positions and 1 school employee positions vacant for election (for a two-year term).

Joining the School Council is a wonderful way to support the school's continual improvement, ensure good governance, and learn more about how the school operates.

To ensure accessibility for all members of our parent community to both become School Council members and hold positions of office, all School Council meetings will be hybrid meetings (meeting in person at school and having the opportunity to join remotely via Webex).

If you would like to nominate to stand for election, forms can be obtained from the office or by emailing me at shaun.mcclare@education.vic.gov.au

Nominations must be lodged by 4:00 pm Friday 7th March.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Parent-teacher interviews will be held via Webex on Monday 31st March. To facilitate the interviews it will be a student-free day.  All-day care at Teamkids will be available for families to book in.
