The Readings Teen Advisory Board

The Readings Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a volunteer group of teenagers that meets once a month to learn about careers in the book industry, chat about recent and forthcoming young adult books, talk with authors, write blog posts and short reviews, and provide feedback to Readings staff members and publishing industry people on a range of subjects.

The Teen Advisory Board are also given the opportunity to judge the Gab Williams Prize for young adult books and attend an in-person work experience day at a publishing house. Select books will be provided free of charge to the board throughout the year and posted out to individual members.

Make and Take Club

Make and Take Craft Club has been very busy over the last few weeks. To celebrate Lantern Festival, we made paper lanterns. We also decorated cute squishy animals (animal shape stress balls) and made paperclip bookmarks.

If you’re a crafty person and would like to join in on the fun, come along to the library on Tuesday at lunchtime.

National Tim Tam Day

Tim Tam Winners!
Tim Tam Winners!

To celebrate National Tim Tam Day (16th February), the library created a display and held a competition. People had to guess how many beads were in a glass jar, and the closest guess would win a packet of Tim Tams.

Both staff and students had a lot of fun trying to come up with their answer. Some people people made estimates, while others tried to use various mathematical formulars. Some students even tried to trick the library staff into telling them the answer! In the end, there were a total of 201 entries with 2 winners declared.

There were 1403 beads in the glass jar. Rose from 9D and Emilia from 9C both guessed 1400 beads. They were so close!

Congratulations and enjoy your Tim Tams Rose and Emilia!
