Foundation Students Gumbuya World Adventure
On Friday 29th of November, Foundation students enjoyed the day at Gumbuya World as part of their science unit learning about Australian animals. Wildlife rangers spoke about life cycles, habitats, what it means to be nocturnal and how to respectfully interact with animals. Students were given the opportunity to pat and hold snakes and lizards as well as pat an owl. Following this, everyone worked in teams to complete an activity which involved grouping animals based on shared characteristics. After lunch in the garden, students explored the Wildlife Trail seeing a variety of animals including kangaroos, koalas, penguins and reptiles. Lastly, students watched the Free-Flight Bird Show before getting back on the bus to return to school. It was a fantastic day!

5/6 STEM Excursion
On 29th November a lucky group of 5/6 students were invited by Max Biocare Institute to take part in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineerings and Mathematics) day at a beautiful property in Yinnar.
Set in a beautiful garden landscape, BioCare Research Parks have developed an engaging program of sustainability-focussed, hands-on science for primary school students and our students at Trafalgar Primary School were very privileged to be a part of this.
Some of the activities the students engaged in were soil testing, plant and insect anatomy, learning about herbs and flowering plants and, probably the most exciting part of all, getting into beekeeper suits and going amongst the bees to learning about how the bees live and produce honey and how important bees are to our environment and our lives as whole.
Our students had an absolutely wonderful time, and we would love to thank Max BioCare and the staff at Yinnar for this fantastic opportunity.
PE/Sport update
Grade 3-4 Cricket Blast Tournament
After being rescheduled multiple times, the much-anticipated Grade 3-4 Cricket Blast tournament finally took place on Wednesday, 4 December! This one-day inter-school carnival, part of the Woolworths Cricket Blast School Cups, introduced students to the exciting Cricket Blast format.
The fast-paced day provided a fun environment for all students to develop their skills in batting, bowling, fielding, and wicket-keeping, regardless of their prior experience. Every student had the opportunity to actively participate, building their game sense and fostering teamwork.
It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and energy from our students as they embraced the sport and made new connections with peers. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, helping to make it a fantastic day of fun and learning!
A big congratulations goes to the Trafalgar Girls A team who achieved 1st place in their pool. A special mention also goes the Trafalgar Boys B team who finished as Runners Up in their pool.
AFL Superkick Program 2025
Trafalgar Primary School has partnered with AFL Victoria to offer a 5-week After School Superkick program for all 7- to 12-year-old students in 2025.
Superkick is a modified version of AFL for anyone wanting to get a feel for footy, without the pressure. You’ll learn new ways to play through skill-based activities in weekly sessions, then show them off in games straight after.
It’s a great introduction to AFL, especially for those who might be thinking about joining the Trafalgar Junior Football Club Under 8s, Under 10s, or Under 12s in 2025. However, it is also suitable for current or past players just looking to keep fit and play some footy with mates too.
This optional 5-week school-based program will be run outside of school learning hours (after school) at a cost of $55 per participant.
Sessions will be run by AFL Victoria, on the school oval from 3:30pm-4:30pm, so that students can come straight from class, on the following days:
Monday 24 Feb
Monday 3 March
No Superkick on Labour Day (Monday 10 March)
Monday 17 March
Monday 24 March
Monday 31 March
To participate all you need to do is register your child to the program via PlayHQ. A link/QR code directing you to the registration form can be found on the flyer ⬅️.
