Kidpreneur

Grade 5

On Tuesday the 5th of December, the Grade 5 students went to Altona Beach Market to sell the products that they had been creating as a part of the Kidprenuer program. The program provided students with an insight into how a business may run, from the planning and design process through to production and profit of sales. The products that the students created had a focus that related to their chosen charity, with all profits raised going to charity. The students demonstrated diligence, responsibility, collaboration and respect throughout the whole process and should be very proud of their efforts.

Nikki:

My business partner, Beth and I (Nikki) created handmade bookmarks and bracelets for Kidprenuer. We wanted to raise money for our charity we picked, UNICEF. We chose UNICEF to be our charity to be donated because a lot of kids are struggling and they are dealing with poverty and sicknesses. The bracelets each were $3 and the bookmarks were $6. My partner told me she overcame the fear of speaking in public so it was a success for her. I learnt how to communicate better when collaborating with others. We had fun together while practising our customer service skills at Altona Beach Market.

Matias:

Coby, Dylan and I (Matias) made Magnetic Peg Monsters which were $2 per peg and 3 for $5. Our group chose the Australian Red Cross because we wanted to raise money for people going through disasters, wars and those injured. Originally we were making 3D fridge magnets but it was taking too long so we had to problem solve and change our product. We learned what it was like to sell and how to talk to people when playing a customer service role. It was a really fun experience to sell products that we had made!
