Gardening Club

This term gardening team have been enjoying the fruits of their labour. After a huge two terms of preparing the sensory space, we now have had the pleasure of caring for and nurturing the hard work.

Students have designed an interactive outdoor chess board to add to the touch zone. Our flowers have been blooming along with herbs and veggies starting to thrive. We picked our first bunches of lettuce which were used in the year 7 Burger CAT for cooking classes.

The garden project has been maintained daily by students before school and on lunch breaks. The upkeep has involved more planting, watering, pruning and weeding. The dedication and commitment have paid off with colourful flowers representing the schoolhouses popping out.

Our vegetable patches produced a beautiful surprise of delicate poppies that began blooming just in time for Remembrance Day.

The gardening program has once again been jammed packed with many things accomplished over 2024. The sensory garden will be a garden that will be enjoyed by the future generations of WSC thanks to the 2024 year 7 and year 8.

I would like to thank and praise the gardening club and the staff who have all given up their free time to support this program as well as those who have helped with donating to the space.

I’d like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season as we come to a close. Take a moment in your gardens and appreciate the beautiful sounds, smells and sights. Nature is truly a magical place.
