On Wednesday 4 December at Black Rock House, The Black Rock Primary School Glee Club Choir performed at the annual Christmas Carols at Black House. They did an outstanding job and were very well received and encouraged from the large local audience.
Glee Club Choir has also performed at the Dendy Park Christmas Carols and at the annual School Christmas Carols. In Performing Arts in December, we have been concentrating on music and dance from around the world.
Mr Halford
This year has been filled with wonderful achievements and growth in our Chinese classes. The students have shown remarkable progress in their understanding of Mandarin, from learning to identify Chinese characters and practicing Pinyin to exploring cultural themes like the Moon Festival. Their enthusiasm for language games, songs, and practical activities has been inspiring. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement throughout the year. Wishing you a joyful and peaceful holiday season.
Ms Hour
It has been an action-packed year of developing fundamental motor skills and game sense in classes as well as major sporting events in the PE department. At the swimming carnival in Term One, and athletics carnival in Term Three, all the students from Years 4 - 6 got to represent and earn points for their house. At the whole school cross country carnival everyone turned out to run for their house and cheer on their peers. Well done to everyone who participated in any of the sporting events this year and congratulations to those who managed to progress to represent the school at the district level or beyond. At each carnival Black Rock students showed great enthusiasm, sportsmanship and support for their teammates which was fantastic to see. I’d like to offer one final thankyou to all of the parents who volunteered their time to assist at numerous events this year; none of them would have happened without you. I hope to see some new faces at next year’s events.
In our final PE lessons for the year the senior students are looking ahead to the Summer Inter School Sport season, experiencing a taste of some of the sports on offer next term whilst the younger students are revising some of their throwing and catching skills. As we enter the final week of PE, students are selecting some of their favourite games to enjoy as a whole class in their last PE lesson for the year (Dodgeball continues to be one of the number one picks).
I hope everyone has a great summer break, keeps active in the nice summer weather and comes back fit and healthy ready for another year.

In Visual Arts, the students have been enjoying finalising some projects from Term Four as well as completing some fun, festive Christmas themed pieces. The students decorated a bag to transport all their work home and we hope parents and carers have enjoyed seeing some stunning, creative pieces coming home.
Our Year Sixes have completed their legacy projects of their skateboards which looked amazing and were showcased at Year Six Graduation this week.
We have loved seeing the talent and creativity from our BRPS artists this year and we hope they enjoy an amazing Christmas and January school holidays. Keep those creative projects going over the holidays! Looking forward to another amazing year of Visual Arts in 2025.
