Jamie Sharp

Dear Parents and Families,

Graduation

What a pleasure it was at the Year 6 Graduation to witness our class of 2024 graduate in front of families, friends, staff, the community and each other. The dignity in how the students celebrated the event was event during the formal ceremony and at the disco party afterwards. The joy was evident in each individual but also as a collective cohort.

What steps Somerville PS graduation ceremonies apart from many others is the way the student have an active role. This is their ceremony, and it is with great pride that the students do this. Taking ownership is something that they will continue to do as life progresses and I love the way on how this is facilitated at graduation.

A big shout to the Year 6 teachers and all helpers who made the night a special occasion for all involved.

I wish all our out going students and families the very best into the future and I look forward to hearing about their successes as the years progress.

Christmas Concert

Our Christmas concert was well attended earlier this month. It demonstrated the community spirit that we have here at Somerville. The students were excited at and after the event as they performed in front of a large audience.

Well done to all involved including Jess Emery with the songs and choreography.

Class Parties

This week all students had an opportunity to celebrate with a class party. As I walked into each class, the joy of each other’s company was clearly evident. The consumption of food was too.

COLA

The Covered Outdoor Learning Area, which is the roof going over the two basketball courts is predicted to start in mid-January. This will mean that the basketball court area will be out of action for Term 1, if all works run to schedule.

Jo Ritchie

Jo Ritchie has been a mainstay of Somerville PS for many years. Dating back to the 1990’s. Jo is looking forward to life in retirement and I’m sure you will all join me thanking Jo for her services to our school and wishing her all the best in the future.

Congratulations to all our 2025 Leadership Team:
