Maths Mastermind Day

On Friday of Week 5, selected High Potential and Gifted students from Kindergarten to Year 6 took part in our exciting Maths Mastermind Day! Students were challenged with a range of hands-on and problem-solving activities designed to stretch their critical thinking and reasoning skills. Some of the highlights included an Equation Building Race, NRICH online challenges, and a fun STEM task - building the tallest spaghetti and marshmallow tower using only one metre of masking tape! Throughout the day, students showed incredible resilience, teamwork, and communication skills, making it a fantastic celebration of mathematical thinking and creativity.

Aboriginal Excursion

During Week 4, Aboriginal Students embarked on an excursion to Kamay National Park, Kurnell. It is a sacred sight for Aboriginal people as we learnt about the local culture, totems and heard many Dreamtime stories from Uncle Shayne and Aunty Lyn. Students were fortunate enough to be lead on a bushwalk to learn about bushcraft and bush tucker from Uncle Shayne. On arrival, students were greeted with a water ceremony performed by Aunty Lyn, which welcomed the students and cleansed them. It was a great day learning about culture on country and sharing the day with each other. Thank you to Nicole (Keisha's Mum) for volunteering for the day and also Aunty Jude for coming back to share the experience with the students.

High School Transition

On Tuesday in week 5, Year 6 students attended Bonnyrigg High School for a High School Transition Program. This is a program that will run for three weeks and continue to build strong connections to our community and positive partnerships between our schools. This aim is to ensure the smooth transition to high school for our students as we understand this can be a daunting time. Students will participate in classes such as cooking, art, PDHPE and English, while also catching up with old friends and family at the high school.

The students in the garden club have worked hard preparing the garden beds by planting seeds and keeping the weeds at bay. This year they have also added a bit of colour to the garden by painting some of the beds with our community members.

A big THANK YOU to Mrs Ha, Mrs White, Mr Love, Mrs Forland, Mrs Gagliano, Ms Fie, Miss Kate, Mrs Mehta and Ms Seng for the time and effort that they have put in to helping us win.
