Year 7

As we reach the end of another rewarding year at Wyndham Central College, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the journey our Year 7 students have taken during their first year of high school. Beginning secondary school is a milestone filled with anticipation, nerves, excitement, and possibility—and our Year 7s have embraced every challenge with resilience and enthusiasm.
This year, we watched students grow not only academically but socially and emotionally. They have learned to navigate new classrooms, new teachers, and new expectations. Many have developed emerging interests in sport, the arts, and broader community engagement. Others have found their voices in leadership roles, representing their peers with maturity and kindness.
Throughout the year, our teachers and support staff have worked tirelessly to create engaging learning environments and support each student’s wellbeing. I’m grateful for their dedication and for the strong partnerships we’ve built with families. Your encouragement at home and your involvement in school life have made a tremendous difference to the success of our students.
As we head into the end of year break, I encourage our Year 7s to rest, recharge, and take pride in all they’ve achieved. For some, the year has flown; for others, it may have felt like a big leap. But every student has grown, learned, and contributed to our school community.
We look forward to welcoming this wonderful cohort into Year 8 next year, ready for new challenges and new successes. Thank you to students, families, and staff for making 2025 a memorable and uplifting year.
Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and joyful holiday season.

Celebrating an Amazing Term 4 for Our Year 7s
As we reach the end of Term 4, it’s incredible to look back on just how much our Year 7 students have achieved, experienced and contributed. This term has been filled with learning, adventure and leadership and we couldn’t be prouder of the way our students have grown throughout their first year of secondary school.
One of the many highlights of this term was our paddle-boarding experience, where students embraced teamwork, resilience and a whole lot of fun on the water. For many, it was their first time trying the activity and their enthusiasm and willingness to challenge themselves made the day a standout.
Our excursion to the zoo was another memorable moment, offering students the chance to connect their classmates. They explored the Savannah and other habitats, some students seeing animals they had never seen before.
Term 4 also brought Year 7’s second set of formal exams and our students approached them with maturity and determination. They practised effective study habits, supported each other, and demonstrated a strong commitment to doing their best. We are so pleased with the effort they put in and the positive attitude they showed throughout the exam period.
Perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of the term was the way our Year 7s stepped into leadership roles, supporting our incoming Grade 6 students as they prepare to transition into Year 7 next year. Our students welcomed them warmly, offered guidance and helped create a sense of belonging for the newest members of our school community. Their kindness and leadership truly reflect the values we aim to build each day.
As we wrap up Term 4, we congratulate all our Year 7s for their fantastic achievements and the energy they have brought to the year. We wish the students and families a safe, happy holiday break and look forward to seeing them continue their journey as confident, capable Year 8 students in 2026.
Lastly, a huge thank you to the Year 7 Team. Every tutor teacher has changed the lives of the Year 7s in a different way. Thank you Ms Zeng, Mrs Butcher, Mrs Bringhino, Ms Nic, Mr Lennon and Miss Miles, Mr Ward and Ms Tirris, Ms Liu and Mr Maskell, Ms Hills and Mr McKenzie. A special thankyou to Ms Shearer who supported the Year 7s and me!
Have a safe and happy holiday.
