Year 8 & 9

Assistant Principal's Report

As we come to the end of another school year, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been a year of growth, challenge, and success for our middle years school community.

2025 has been marked by the resilience, commitment, and determination of our students, the dedication and professionalism of our staff, and the ongoing support of our families. Together, we have continued to strengthen our focus on learning, wellbeing, and positive relationships, ensuring that our school remains a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all.

We are incredibly proud of the academic progress our students have made across all year levels. Beyond academics, students have also excelled in sport, the arts, leadership, and community service, representing our school with pride.

A strong emphasis this year has been placed on student wellbeing, positive behaviour, and engagement. Through consistent expectations, targeted supports, and a shared commitment to positive school culture, we have seen continued improvements in student confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging across the school.

We would like to sincerely thank our teaching and education support staff for their tireless work, care, and professionalism. Their dedication to our students every day is the foundation of our school’s success. Thank you in particular to the Middle Years Leaders Allan Nilsen, Ewan Slater and Amelia Coster. We also thank our families for your ongoing partnership, trust, and support throughout the year—it makes a genuine difference to student outcomes.

As the year draws to a close, we encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge, and celebrate the achievements of the year. We look forward to welcoming students back in the new year with renewed energy and a continued commitment to excellence, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Here’s wishing all students and families a safe, happy, and restful holiday season. We look forward to another successful year together.

Warm regards,

Megan Taylor - Assistant Principal Years 8 - 9

Year Level Leader's Report Year 8

As we come to the end of an exciting and productive 2025, we are proud to celebrate the many achievements of our Year 8 students. This year has been filled with growth, resilience, and a strong commitment to learning, and we thank our families for the ongoing support that helps make this success possible.

A major focus across the year has been Being Ready to Learn and Setting Up for Success. Students have consistently demonstrated improved organisation, responsibility, and pride in their learning, helping them build strong foundations for future years. Teachers have been impressed by the positive learning routines that students have embraced both inside and outside the classroom.

Our students also excelled beyond the classroom. The Athletics Carnival and Swimming Carnival were standout community events, full of teamwork, encouragement, and determination. Participation was outstanding, with many students stepping outside their comfort zones and celebrating house spirit.

In support of wellbeing, students attended a Healthy Minds Booster session, which equipped them with preventative mental health strategies and tools for developing positive habits. Programs such as Blue Edge further supported engagement, confidence, and teamwork, giving students opportunities to build leadership and connection in a structured, supportive environment.

We were also proud to continue Le Mana, a program designed for our Pasifika students to strengthen identity, culture, and resilience. This space provided powerful opportunities for students to share stories, celebrate heritage, and build confidence in who they are.

A highlight of Term 3 was our vibrant Wellbeing Day, facilitated by Proactivity. Students had a fantastic time taking part in activities such as Laser Tag, Ninja Warrior, Archery, Mini-Golf and even a Giant Football Dartboard. The day was filled with laughter, cooperation, and a keen sense of community.

Another profound moment from this year involved the Active Girls program, a first-of-its-kind, pilot initiative which aims at understanding and breaking down barriers to female participation in sport. Our girls had the honour of being the inaugural group of this program, they represented our school wonderfully and are now better equipped to be leaders among their peer group. Long may this magnificent work continue!

Finally, our two exam cycles this year served as important checkpoints for academic progress. Students applied themselves with maturity and commitment, and results show clear growth across learning areas.

We congratulate all Year 8 students on a wonderful year and look forward to their continued success in 2026.

We wish you a happy holiday period and look forward to continuing our work in 2026.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 9

Our Year 9 cohort finished the year with a BANG! Wow, 2025 has been a whirlwind of excitement, growth and laughter.

Year 9's completed their exams that demonstrated they are well on their way to transitioning into Year 10. Students sat exams extremely well and followed all instructions provided.

Our final excursion to Werribee Zoo was a wonderful day out for the cohort. Students loved the relaxed atmosphere of the zoo and thoroughly enjoyed the safari. What a fantastic way to end our time together!

Our Tutor Challenge started hot and fast this term. 9A and 9C were out to a quick lead at 6 a-piece. Our final assembly we crowned our final Tutor Challenge Champions. The Year 9's were all abuzz, desperate to know who would take home the golden cup. In the end, the race was tight. 9S eager to go back-to-back, but alas, fell at the final hurdle. The final congratulations go to 9C!  Well done 9C.

It has been a pleasure to lead this cohort and watch as they have grown and changed over the last 12 months.
