Principal's Reflection

Eamonn Buckley

As the 2025 school year concludes, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the entire Borinya community of students, parents, and carers and our dedicated staff.

2025 has been a big year for our Borinya community and as the year ends, we have made time to celebrate the effort and success of our students and by extension our caring and hard-working staff.

Our Borinya WALK – Courage, Resilient, Inclusive and Curious underpins what we continually strive to be as a learning community. It is our WALK which sets us apart from other schools. Our WALK is lived. Our WALK is known. Our WALK is understood. Indeed, Our WALK is the envy of those who visit our community to see and hear about what we do. Our WALK guides us to be better. Demands us to be our true authentic selves. To consider that it not just about ‘me!’ But that it is as a collective and in partnership that we achieve great things, learning from each other as we remain grounded, humble, but proud of who we are in the broader Wangaratta and Northeast area.

Friday 28th November saw our Year 10, 11 & 12 students participate in our Borinya Formal a great event, one of many special activities we do.

The following words are of Year 11 student Dylan Graham who when introducing the evening began,

Tonight is a celebration of what makes Borinya special, that is our community, our resilience, our values and the way we learn together. Whether you have joined us this year or have been with Borinya for a while, you’ve been part of a journey built on growth, connection and being supported to be your best self. Even on the days you didn’t want to be at school, we got there”.

And we have got there! It has been a big year with lots of challenges. All of which has led to growth. Growth in learning and growth of individuals. And very little of this happens by accident. It happens because our students allow their teachers and educational support officers to work with them. In doing this they allow themselves to be vulnerable and open to learning. And with learning comes new possibilities, new horizons, possibilities and directions.
