Principal's Message

Dear Holy Family Parents and Carers,

Holy Family K–6 Swimming Carnival Reflection

This week our Kinder to Year 6 Swimming Carnival at Lane Cove Pool was a wonderful celebration of participation and community spirit. This year we trialled a new format, and I’m delighted to share that the changes were overwhelmingly positive.

A key highlight was the dedicated grassed area, where students rotated through a variety of engaging water-play activities. This created a fun environment and ensured that all students remained active and involved throughout the day.

Our Kindergarten and Year 1 students especially enjoyed having exclusive use of the Learn to Swim pool. This provided a safe and confidence-building space for our youngest swimmers to participate fully and experience the excitement of their first school carnival.

The revised race program also proved highly successful. Timed and untimed events in the 50-metre outdoor pool ran efficiently and allowed students of different abilities to take part.

A special thank-you must go to our amazing parent volunteers, whose organisation, enthusiasm, and teamwork ensured the day ran smoothly from start to finish. We are truly grateful for your involvement. We were also fortunate to have Jason McCawley capturing the event. His fabulous photographs reflect the joy and spirit of the day.

We extend a special thanks to Mrs Coco, our sports teacher, as well as Mrs Jones and Mrs Edwards for their expertise, enthusiasm, and exceptional leadership in organising the day. Their careful planning and commitment played a significant role in the success of the carnival.

Feedback from students and staff has been incredibly positive, with many commenting on how much they enjoyed the new structure and venue. Overall, it was a highly successful carnival and a wonderful way to celebrate our students’ confidence, persistence, and love of being active.

PAWS Therapy Dog Visit – Next Friday

We are excited to announce that next Friday morning we will welcome Maxi, a PAWS Therapy dog, to our school. This special visit is a trial session sponsored by our P&F as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing.

Maxi’s presence offers students a gentle and calming opportunity to engage with a trained therapy dog as they come to school at morning drop-off. Programs like this have been shown to help students who may benefit from additional emotional support, increased confidence, or simply a positive and soothing connection during their school day.

We are hopeful that this trial will pave the way for Maxi to become a regular visitor to our school. If successful, we aim to continue the program on a fortnightly basis in 2026.

We thank the P&F for their support and look forward to seeing the positive impact Maxi will bring to our students.
