Classroom Happenings F/1

FOUNDATION AND YEAR 1

As we reach the end of the school year, it is a fitting time to pause and reflect on a wonderful year in F/1.

Throughout the year, students have grown in confidence, independence and kindness. They have embraced learning with curiosity, supported one another as friends, and shown pride in their efforts. It has been a joy watching them develop, not only as learners, but as thoughtful and caring members of our classroom community.

In Mathematics, students have been exploring money and number through hands-on, real-world learning. They have earned coins for their efforts and positive choices, then exchanged these at the “Nagy Bank” for coins of higher value. This has strengthened their understanding of value, trading and equivalence, while reinforcing skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. Students have loved working towards savings goals and applying their learning at the “Nagy Toy Shop,” where mathematical thinking is purposeful, practical and fun.

Students have also completed an end-of-year reflection, sharing what they are proud of, what they have enjoyed, and how they feel about their learning this year. Their reflections offer a thoughtful snapshot of their growth across the year.
