Secondary Sport

Term 2 is underway and what a start
it’s been!
Not only are our Inter-school sport seasons ramping up, but we’ve also had some outstanding individual achievements take place over the school holidays.
Last week, 92 students represented PVCC at the EISM Division 2 Athletics Carnival. Although we didn’t quite reach the same results as previously, the team competed hard all day, coming away with some excellent individual achievements. Big thank you to all students and families for your support over the last couple of months with Athletics training and the carnival itself.
All students involved represented PVCC really well, we (as a teaching staff) are super proud of all involved.
From a weekly-sport point of view, our year 7’s have just kicked off their first official season of EISM sport, which will run through Term 2.
Our Senior and Intermediate teams have Grand Finals this Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, before our new seasons of sport trials begin next week. Congratulations to all teams who made it to the Grand Finals!
Individual achievements:
Asher A (Year 12) recently competed in the decathlon at the National Athletics Championships in Perth. A huge congratulations is in place after Asher came second overall in the Under 20 decathlon. Not only is second place outstanding, but he did so at just 17 years old. He had 5 personal bests, which shows just how committed and hard-working Asher has been. Congratulations!
Ash W (Year 9) has been training two nights a week at the State Basketball Centre with the State Performance Pathway. She has also just been offered a permanent spot in the Women’s Youth League team (16-23 yr olds). This is an incredible opportunity and experience at any age, but the fact that Ash is still just 14, speaks volumes about her ability. Congratulations Ash!
Julia W (Year 11) has been selected to represent the EISM at the VSAC Swimming Carnival against the best swimmers from a number of sporting associations. All the best Julia!
