District Soccer

Congratulations to the group of students who proudly represented our school last week at District Soccer. The team fought hard, worked together and scored several great goals across the matches. Thank you to the helpers on the day and good luck to our footballers who head off Wednesday for their games.

Inquiry Projects

Just a reminder that students will be working in pairs to construct a diorama which highlights their understanding of an historical event. We are asking for students and families to begin collecting, and bringing in materials that can be used for these dioramas. As always, there is no expectation to purchase anything and we are hoping to take a sustainable approach to gathering our materials. Examples of materials that would be helpful are listed below.

E.g. cardboard rolls, fabric offcuts, crepe paper, paper cups, glitter, pebbles, sand, shoeboxes, cellophane, cardboard offcuts, dried leaves or plant cuttings etc

Middle Years Team

This week is Education Week, and the theme 'Celebration of Cultures' ties nicely in with the Korean Lyncs Program which the Middle Years Team has been involved in again this year. Ballan Primary has been involved with the program since it began, but this year again all 3 Middle Years grades are participating in live link up sessions with our partner teachers and schools in Daegu, South Korea. This program is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about another culture and country while helping their Korean friends to learn English. Students have been preparing resources using ITC to share with the Korean schools. 3/4A have been making an English alphabet book as they are paired with a Grade 3 class who are just starting to learn English, as well as learning how to write and day their names in Hangul (Korean). 3/4N & 3/4M are paired with slightly older grades and have been preparing a getting to know each other session; learning each other's likes/dislikes, hobbies and interests. It is a marvellous opportunity to practise skills in using technology as well as Speaking & Listening during the live link up.

Prep to Grade 2 Mother’s Day Afternoon – A Heartfelt Celebration!

On Friday, May 9th, our Prep to Grade 2 students hosted a delightful Mother’s Day Afternoon to celebrate the amazing women in their lives. We’d like to extend a big thank you to all the families who joined us—it was so special to share this time together!

The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of creativity. Students had a wonderful time making beautiful bracelets, drawing heartfelt pictures, and pampering their mums with relaxing hand massages. It was a fun and meaningful way to say thank you to the incredible mothers and caregivers in our school community.

Thank you again to everyone who came along and helped make the afternoon so memorable!

Specialist Team

Physical Education

On Friday 9th May, we had 19 students represent our school at Division Cross Country at Ballarat High. In glorious weather, all students performed sensational efforts against some quality opposition. Every student should be proud of what they achieved. Special congratulations to Travis who came 8th and will now compete at Regional Cross Country in Warrnambool! Thank you to families for ensuring your child/children could attend this event and Miss Nat for her assistance.

Last Wednesday our mixed soccer team competed in District Soccer in Ballarat. All students played really well, securing a 3-3 draw against Beaufort and were the only team to score a goal against Forest Street. Well done to Jhett who scored all 4 of our goals for the day. Thank you to Miss L, Miss Stacey and families who could attend.

Lastly, we had a very successful Gr3-6 Athletic Sports Day on Tuesday at Llanberris Reserve.  Well done to all of our students who gave it their best. Thanks to all the staff and families who assisted on the day. Congratulations to Echidna House who won a close contest, well done!
