FN Golden Bay (Tākaka) proudly supported the Tākaka Squash Club over King’s Birthday weekend as they hosted another action packed tournament. With a full schedule, great energy, and plenty of space for players and spectators, the event proved to be another standout on the local calendar.
FN Golden Bay (Tākaka), alongside their friends from the Upper Tākaka Fire Brigade, successfully completed the Sky Tower climb. Together, they raised over $5,500 for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand. A huge thank you goes out to all their supporters—an incredible achievement and an amazing event to be part of!
Trudy Weston, and Jennie Hedger, have just completed their First Aid Certificate with Meditrain , and they’re walking away with vital knowledge that could one day save a life.
Their training covered essential skills such as CPR, treating burns, responding to poisoning, and more. One of the most powerful lessons was just how critical quick action can be, especially in cases of cardiac arrest, where every minute without defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by 10%. Knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can dramatically improve someone’s odds.
To support this, the AED Locations app is a must-have. It’s free, NZ-based, and uses your GPS to show the nearest AED. The map features colour-coded icons for quick reference: red markers indicate AEDs located inside a business or building, which may only be available during business hours, while green markers show AEDs outside a business, accessible 24/7.
Check out where your closest AED is at home and at work now, so you’re prepared before an emergency strikes.
Also worth checking—does someone in your office have a current first aid certificate? Under NZ law, workplaces need to have first aid kits and access to trained first aiders. If no one’s trained yet, it’s a great time to get someone booked in!
