Operation Art Exhibition

The Operation Art opening on Saturday at Fairfield City Museum and Gallery was lovely.

I caught up with the Toubia and the Khoury families and both girls were very excited to see their work, framed behind glass, in a gallery setting. They were each given an Operation Art 'goodie bag' and catalogue that includes their name and school.

Some information about the exhibition:

'Now in its 30th year, Operation Art is an initiative of the Children's Hospital at Westmead in association with the NSW Department of Education.

In 2024, 639 artworks were submitted from 240 schools across New South Wales.

Operation Art encourages students from Kindergarten to Year 10 to discover purpose in their artmaking by creating artworks to help brighten the lives of children in hospital.

Congratulations to all our exhibiting artists! Thank you for being part of this unique project.'

Each Sydney school is only able to submit two artworks and SFX was well represented with the works by Sofia and Jennifer. Their works weren't selected to go into the Hospital collection. They will be returned to the school later in the year and it would be lovely to hang them somewhere prominent.
