Pentecost

This Sunday, 8th June, we celebrate a very special day in our Church calendar – Pentecost, which marks the 50th day of Easter.

In the Acts of the Apostles, we hear how the disciples gathered together with Our Lady when the Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus, came upon them. A rush of wind swept through the room, and tongues of fire appeared above their heads. Filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples were suddenly able to speak in many languages, allowing them to share the Good News of Jesus with people from every nation. This miraculous event marks the beginning of the Church's mission in the world, which is why Pentecost is often referred to as the Birthday of the Church.

Just as we mark birthdays with celebration, so too do we remember that the Holy Spirit continues to be present and active in our lives today. Through the Sacraments, especially Confirmation, and through our daily Christian living, we are continually invited to welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts, guiding, strengthening, and inspiring us to be witnesses of God’s love in our world.

As we approach Pentecost, may we take a moment to reflect on the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our own lives, and how we might share those gifts with others in our school, our families, and our communities.

The children engaged in a special celebration this morning to acknowledge the Birthday of the Church with a reflective prayer service, a touch of red for their classroom prayer spaces and a cupcake!

“We do not need to wait for the Holy Spirit to come; he came on the day of Pentecost. He has never left the church.”

~ John Stott

Sacrament of First Eucharist 2025

On Saturday, 14th of June, Sunday 15th of June & Sunday 22nd of June,  students from year three will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. This Sacrament is an opportunity for our Year 3 students to share in a sacred meal and receive Jesus for the first time. As Pope Francis once stated, ‘The Eucharist is essential for us: it is Christ who wishes to enter our lives and fill us with his grace,’ meaning the Eucharist allows us to invite Jesus into our lives and give thanks for what He has done for us.

Please keep all our Year 3 students in your prayers as they receive this special Sacrament. Thank you, Father Richard and the Year 3 teachers, for preparing the students for this special sacrament.

Kind Regards
