National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week – Learning, Respect and Connection

This week, our school is recognised National Sorry Day (26 May) and National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June)—important times to reflect on our shared history and learn about the journey towards reconciliation.

Sorry Day is a time to acknowledge the experiences of the Stolen Generations—Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were removed from their families—and to recognise the strength of their families and communities.

Reconciliation Week invites all Australians to come together in the spirit of understanding, respect and connection. This year’s theme, ‘Bridging Now to Next’, encourages us to learn from the past and walk together towards a more inclusive future.

At school, students are engaging in age-appropriate activities to help them understand the importance of these events, celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and build respectful relationships.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and to learn more by visiting reconciliation.org.au or narragunnawali.org.au.

Together, we can support a future built on respect, truth, and unity.

Respecting Our School Environment – A Reminder to All Parents and Carers

We would like to remind all families that our school is a place of learning, safety, and respect—not only for our students but for staff and visitors as well. As a Department of Education school, we are committed to maintaining a positive and safe environment at all times.

We kindly ask that parents and carers:

  • Refrain from vaping or smoking anywhere on school grounds, including at pickup and drop-off zones.
  • Use respectful and appropriate language at all times, particularly around students and classrooms.
  • Be mindful of noise levels, especially near learning spaces such as Kindergarten rooms.

These expectations ensure that we model the respectful behaviours we want our children to adopt. Your cooperation helps us maintain a calm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in our school community.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Thank You, Volunteers!

National Volunteer Week was held on 10 - 25 May, we want to give a special shoutout to all the amazing individuals who give their time and heart to our school community.

Whether you're helping out in the canteen, supporting home reading, or serving on the P&C, your contributions make a world of difference.

Your dedication, enthusiasm, and generosity are truly appreciated. Thank you for everything you do — we couldn’t do it without you!
