Comprehension strategies

CStrategic actions for Comprehension are divided into three sections: 

Thinking within the Text

Thinking beyond the Text

Thinking about the Text

These strategic actions help scaffold children to focus on all areas of comprehension.

Thinking within the text involves strategic actions that enable the reader to gain a literal understanding of the text – ‘what is happening’ or ‘the facts’.

When ‘Thinking within the text’ we focus on:

• Solving words
• Monitoring and Correcting
• Maintaining fluency
• Adjusting pace and style
• Searching for and using information
• Summarising

VICTORIA PREMIERS' READING CHALLENGE:

A huge congratulations to those students who have participated in the challenge. Certificates will be handed out to students once recieved.

LIBRARY BORROWING SESSIONS:

The last day for borrowing books from the library is Friday the 24th of November. All borrowed books need to be returned by early December.

To avoid receiving an over due letter please return any books that your child has borrowed from the school library before Friday 1st December.
