SATAC Applications

Over the past 2 weeks we have been speaking to all Year 12 students to ensure that they have a plan for transitioning into life beyond Endeavour in 2024. We were impressed that most students were able to discuss their ideas about university or vocational courses, or other options such as finding work. Many of our students have already completed their SATAC application and paid the $60 application fee. We encourage you to discuss the SATAC application process with your student to ensure that they have applied and paid as the final date to do this with a fee of $60 is Friday 29 September 2023 (TODAY). After this date students can still apply but will need to pay an increased fee of $210. If your student wishes to sit the STAT (university adult entry test) this should be indicated in the on-line application or SATAC can be contacted directly regarding this. Students eligible for University Adjustment Factors can upload the evidence for this via the website. Details of eligibility are available on the SATAC website.

Students can list up to 6 course preferences for university studies and changes can continue to be made to preferences up until January 3, 2024 (which is after the Year 12 results become available). First-round offers will be sent via email on January 11, 2024 and further offer rounds will occur later in January and February.

Students wishing to apply interstate should also have completed this process today, 29 September 2023.

Applications to study at TAFE are also now open and students can list up to 3 preferences, there is no cost to apply to TAFE.

TAFE will contact applicants directly as most courses require the completion of a standard Literacy and Numeracy assessment. The most up to date information regarding TAFE course is available on their website; this includes entry requirements, fees and venues.

Students intending to look for work should ensure they have an up-to date-resume and a strong cover letter. Year 12 students can continue to access the Endeavour Pathways website templates too assist in creating these documents and gather further information about post school options. - https://www.endeavourpathways.com.au/

We wish all our Year 12’s the very best for the next few weeks, and look forward to seeing where their futures task them!

Year 7 -11 Learning Conversations

As a classroom teacher, over time I have noticed the strong connection between student success and parent/caregiver involvement in a student's learning. As a College this year we have been intentional about inviting parents and caregivers onto campus to share in the learning journey of students as much as possible. This may be celebrating achievements at an assembly, hearing from students about their learning at Care Group Connection evenings, exhibitions at the culmination of a unit of work and coming up, Year 12 Valedictory.

Year 7 -11 Learning Conversations are another key College event where parents and caregivers, along with students can meet with subject teachers to discuss student progress and ongoing improvements for the remainder of the semester. Learning Conversations are scheduled for Monday 23 October, 3.30pm-7.30pm.  Booking information, including where teachers have requested learning conversations, will be emailed in week 2 of the holiday break. At this time all parents and care givers are encouraged to make appointments with subject teachers.

If families are unable to attend and wish to hear from the teacher and build this partnership, please make contact with your child's classroom teachers via email, phone or make a time to meet in person.

We look forward to this productive time where students can be supported from both home and the College on their learning journey.

Year 10 Mock Interviews

Our Personal Learning Pathways Program continues next term with the Year 10s developing their skill in applying for and obtaining an entry level job.

Students are required to complete a written application including resume and cover letter and then undertake a ‘mock job interview' for the position.

Past students have always commented on the value of this experience in preparing them for the challenges faced in applying for jobs now, and into the future. The Mock Interviews will take place on Monday 13th November here at the College.

In order for this day to run effectively we require volunteers from our school community to act as interviewers.

We do have some ‘regulars’ we are able to call on, but we are always on the lookout for more volunteers. We would love to have some of our parents involved in this program (no experience required). I am hopeful that you will call or email me at the College with an interest to assist. You can reach me on 8368 3311 or via email, annie.fitridge@endeavour.sa.edu.au.

Upon expression of interest, all details and information regarding the Mock Interview Session are provided, along with a very tasty morning tea on the day.

The interviews run from 9.00am until about 12.30pm.
