Ministry

Have you ever experienced the frustration of a smashed mobile phone, especially when you need it to be fixed instantly? It can feel like your lifeline to the world has been severed, and you desperately seek a quick solution. In these moments, we can draw a parallel between our need for an instant fix and the timeless lesson found in the parable of the lost sheep from the Bible.

In Luke 15:3-7, Jesus shares a story about a shepherd who had a flock of one hundred sheep. One day, one of the sheep wandered off and became lost. The shepherd left the ninety-nine others behind to search for the one that was missing. When he found it, he rejoiced and carried it back home, and there was great celebration.

Now, let's connect this parable to the experience of a smashed phone that needs an immediate fix. When our phone is broken, we often feel disconnected from the world, just like that lost sheep was separated from the flock. We want a quick solution, a way to restore the connection and functionality.

Similarly, when we sin or make mistakes in life, we may feel broken and disconnected from God. We long for an immediate fix, a way to restore our relationship with Him. We may even be tempted to seek quick fixes in the form of worldly distractions or instant gratifications to fill the void.

However, the parable of the lost sheep reminds us that God is like the diligent shepherd. He doesn't abandon us when we are lost or broken. Instead, He actively seeks us out, desiring to restore the connection that was lost. God's love for us is unwavering, and He longs for us to return to Him.

Just as we desire a quick fix for our broken phone, God desires a swift reconciliation with us when we stray. The beauty lies in the fact that God's grace is immediate and always available. We don't have to wait for the perfect moment to turn back to Him. He welcomes us with open arms, ready to mend our brokenness and restore the connection that was lost.

So, the next time you face the frustration of a smashed phone in need of an instant fix, let it serve as a reminder of the parable of the lost sheep. Know that God is always ready to mend your brokenness, no matter how immediate or severe the need may be. Just as a lost sheep is found and celebrated, you too can find restoration and joy in returning to God's loving embrace.

Blessings.
