Acting Principal's Message

Welcome

I would like to welcome back Felicity Hall-Shulman, Assistant Principal who returns from personal leave. I would also like welcome two new staff members to the Mount View school community, Jade Scaranto who is replacing Colleen Greenway in 2CG, now known as 2JS. Meg Greenway (Prep MG) who is replacing Kieren Bennett who is on maternity leave.

PYP - Concept Based Learning professional learning

On Monday 2nd October, all teaching staff attended the PYP-Concept Based learning workshop at Karralyka in Ringwood. Staff were exposed to an engaging, informative and inquiry-based program focusing on our pedagogical approach to inquiry learning through teaching conceptual understandings. Teachers are looking forward in taking the learning from this experience and putting it into practice in their classrooms.

Facilities

Andrew and Nigel have been working hard over the holiday break maintaining our wonderful school grounds and facilities. Lights were installed under the cover area for our community users to enjoy after school hours.  Soft fall and sand pits in our playgrounds were inspected and topped up. Works are about to begin on the oval near the synthetic basketball courts to re-develop a retaining wall (concrete steel construction), that will be stronger, safer and more secure for many years to come. Thank you to Andrew and Nigel, our superstars for keeping our school grounds safe and looking spectacular!

Hats

For term 4, students are required to wear their school hats when outdoors, during recess/lunchtimes and PE/Sport. Please make sure your child brings their hat to school and has their name on it, for easy identification (so many hats end up in Lost Property).

Assemblies

We invite the parent community to attend assemblies this term to celebrate student awards and engaging class presentations. We conduct assemblies each Friday at 2:45-3:25pm. Assemblies alternate between Senior then Junior school. Please check the calendar on Compass for dates.

School Disco

Information was sent out via a Compass newsfeed this week to notify parents of the upcoming School Disco. This is a well-liked event by the students. We have a Junior Disco Prep - 2 (5-6pm) and Senior Year 3-6 (6:15pm - 7:45pm). DJSam will be responsible for the student's entertainment. We currently have a parent committee who are preparing for this fundraising event, organising the decorations, ticket purchases and food requirements. We look forward in seeing the students dressed in their 'neon' or brightest colours at the disco in the school gym on Friday 20th October.
