Mrs Hodgson

Last term we had the year 5/6 students all write an entry for the Pawsome Stories competition. They could either write about:

  • The day my pet saved the world
  • Why caring for animals is important?

We had some outstanding entries and are thrilled to announce that Pella Siatos has been named a Finalist in this competition. Pella will be attending the awards ceremony with her family at the RSPCA next Thursday afternoon. We wish her every success, and can't wait to hear how she goes. Congratulations Pella!

This is Pella's story:

Why caring for animals is important!

Many people think animals are a waste of space and money, but what people don’t realise is animals are like humans. They have feelings like us and depend on us, like we depend on them. Animals are always there. You have a hard day and want someone to cuddle? Animals are there. You have a hard day and want someone to listen? They’re always free. Sometimes, animals are like pillows, they hold your tears when no one else wants to.

Caring for animals is important because we need to feed them, give them something to drink, and clean them when they get dirty. Imagine going a whole day without eating anything. You’d starve! Now imagine an animal going the whole day without eating anything. They’ll also starve! But what some people seem to forget is that some animals do. Some stray animals go weeks without eating while everyone just walks past. If there’s a stray animal the least you can do is drive it to a pet shelter and care.

Caring for animals is important because we don’t just take care of them, they take care of us. Without realising animals give us food, clothes and they also provide us with medicine. But animals don’t only give us food and clothes, they give us hope. Animals give us energy. They give us energy to not sit in bed all day, but to get up and move.

Now, I know that caring for animals is important, and I hope everyone knows that it takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal.
