Health

Mrs Chebbou

This term students in Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 will be participating in Health classes for one session per week. Health classes are an opportunity for students to learn about, discuss and practise strategies to help keep them healthy, safe and active.

Foundations students have already begun learning about the human body and ways they can keep their bodies healthy and safe. Two fun facts Foundations students have learnt so far are:- eating dairy gives us calcium, which strengthens our bones and teeth - blood flows through our veins and needs oxygen, which we get from fresh air and eating fruits/vegetables

Grade 1/2 students have started a unit of work around kindness and including others. They’ve read books, discussed feelings around these concepts and engaged in role plays practising language that can be used to include others, as well as ways to include themselves both during class activities and break time fun. Two fun facts Grade 1/2 students have learnt thus far are: - hard things can be good for us, as persisting with challenges helps our mind grow bigger and stronger - environments impact our health and well-being, and therefore we are all responsible for creating an inclusive and fun environment with the people in our various communities

I can’t wait to continue exploring with our junior school students a variety of ways they can be healthy, safe and active.

I encourage parents to ask their child/ren at the end of each day the following questions:

⁃ What have you done today to keep yourself healthy and/or safe?

⁃ What did you do today to show kindness?
