Term 4 in the LOTE room.

FOUNDATION: 

In Term 4, students will be introduced to a new topic of ‘Fruit’ by developing their colour words and expressions learned in Term 3. They will continuously develop their oral and conversational skills through this new topic. This term a new Chinese song called ‘The Fruit Song’ associated with the topic will be taught to help students learn fruit words. Memory and matching games will be played as well as jackstones as part of outdoor activities.

 

Grade 1/2: 

Students will be introduced to a new topic of ‘Australian iconic animals and pets’. They will learn the Chinese names of the famous Australian native animals as well as popular pets. Students will learn a song called ‘Da Xiang’ meaning ‘elephant’ associated with this topic and continually develop their oral skills and vocabulary.

 

Grade 3/4:

This term, students will be introduced to a new topic of ‘My school subjects and school day’ by developing their Chinese telling time skills and vocabulary learned previously. Eight school subjects will be taught, and students will make their own Chinese timetable, learning how to combine the different timeslots with daily school activities in sentence form. Short presentations on their daily life will be done in class. They will also have a chance to investigate Chinese students' very different school life of Chinese students in China.

 

Grade 5/6:

In Term 4, students will be introduced to a fascinating topic of ‘the Terracotta Worriers’, exploring the history of the Qin Dynasty and its first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Through this topic, they will have an opportunity to look into the China’s true character and one of the greatest cultural heritages which has been passed down to today over two thousand years. Students will also learn a Christmas carol, We wish you a merry Christmas, in Chinese.
