Term 4 Overview

Foundation:

This term our students will be learning about TEXTURE in music, exploring how more sounds make the texture thick and less sounds have a thin texture. Other musical concepts will be FORM and STYLE.

Later in the term we will commence our Christmas songs in readiness for our end of year concert!

Year 1/2:

MUSIC ALL AROUND US is the topic for this term and we will explore music from different times, different lands, for different purposes and music for dancing. Half way through the term we will discuss musical ideas for our Christmas concert.

Year 3/4:

Learning several chords on the UKULELE is the focus of term 4. Students will learn how to play C, F, Am and G7 and change smoothly between them. (Ukuleles are an inexpensive instrument so if you’re looking for Christmas present ideas this might be a good option!)

In addition students will develop their skills on the marimbas and xylophones. They will use these skills at a performance during our end of year concert.

Year 5/6:

Our classroom will become quite noisy this term as students learn how to play chords on the KEYBOARDS ,have a go at CHAIR DRUMMING and also learn simple GUITAR chords! They will discuss ideas for the Christmas concert and work towards making an interesting performance for the audience.
