Digital Technology Unit

Students have been investigating Digital Technologies in Library for the last three weeks. We collected, sorted and analysed data by counting people and pets in our family or items in lunch boxes. Students learned about cybersafety through story and songs, creating posters to reinforce the messages. This week, students have learned some coding and applied it to the coding games found on the Hour of Code website.

Our books need to find their way back to school

As we reach the end of Term 3, we are asking students to hunt for any books which may now be quite overdue and asking that they use the holidays to look for them. There are now many books (213) which have been borrowed during the year that need to find their way back to the Library.

We would really appreciate your help finding any books from the Library and helping your children to return them to us after the holidays.

Reading

We really hope that you and your students take some time to read what you enjoy over the holidays. This can be outside in the sun or shade away from computer screens.

The latest Treehouse book has been published! This is the 13th book in The 13 Storey Treehouse series by Terry Denton and Andy Griffiths - so we are up to 169 storeys!  We have three new copies ready to go and know there will be students who enjoy this during their break.

I have recently finished reading Fiona Hardy’s book How to Tackle Your Dreams. Homer loves football but the split between his mum and dad has changed how he feels about lots of things. His mum has been drafted in the WAFL. She is training hard and sometimes away from home, leaving Homer with her parents. Dad has moved to Perth from Melbourne for work and can’t make it back to see Homer or his Mum play. Homer decides he needs the money to help his dad to come over. The school PE uniform doesn’t fit very well so he fixes his shirt with the skills his grandfather, a professional tailor, has taught him. The other kids think Homer’s shirt is great and ask him to fix theirs and are willing to pay him. While the repairs idea gets out of hand and the Principal isn’t happy, it does make Homer’s mum and dad realise that they need to communicate more with him about what’s going on.
