Foundation

This week the Foundation students have continued to practise their fluency when reading. They have worked with a partner to play games and read mini books.

Foundation students also enjoyed the story The Gruffalo, focusing on the words the author used to describe him. Through a guided drawing session everyone created a Gruffalo and wrote sentences about him which included many of our describing words.

Our finished pieces look amazing!

Years 1 and 2

What a wonderful Term 3 we have had in the 1/2 area.

We have enjoyed many extra learning opportunities including: Magic with Tam, our athletics day, a science incursion, a visit from the RACV Safety Squad, a matinee performance of the school production of Aladdin, our Book Week dress up day, a Cambodia presentation from Miss Hausler, celebration assemblies and another visit to the Plaza Theatre to see the St Patrick's School production.

We have continued our learning inside the classrooms, working hard when learning new concepts in literacy and trying to apply these in our weekly spelling tests and everyday writing. We have practiced writing statements, questions and exclamations and have improved our reading accuracy and fluency. Our wiggle dance has been a popular way to get moving, clear our brains and refocus in between learning activities.

In mathematics we are experts at telling the time, giving directions and identifying fractions.

After learning lots about procedure writing in inquiry we have been enjoying some Dreamtime stories. A highlight was a visit from Catholic Education Office Sandhurst's Troy Firebrace, where we were able to see didgeridoo playing in action. We also painted some rocks using some Indigenous symbols and retold the story of Tiddalik the Frog using puppets.

We hope everyone enjoys a well deserved break over the holidays and returns ready for a busy term of learning in Term 4.
