Class 10

Class 10 has had a great year full of learning, fun, friendships and memories! We started out creating our own vegie garden, which we tended to every week. Over the year we harvested beans, cauliflowers, spring onions, lettuce, sunflowers and parsley. In English we worked on our reading skills and created short stories. In Math we improved our knowledge of addition, subtraction, and fractions and used this to create 2D and 3D shapes as well as a simple sun dial. We also learnt how to earn money and how to spend it in our own classroom Market Stall and then how to order and pay for our own Fish & Chips at the local Dromana shops. We studied Biology and how to classify animals, which we capped off with visit to the Melbourne Zoo.
In Science we conducted simple experiments like changing solids to liquids and liquids to gases. We also studied the weather and how wind and clouds are formed and how observing this can help us to predict the weather. We then went to Seawinds Park at Arthurs Seat to make weather observations of the whole of Port Philip Bay. We also looked at our Solar System and made our own paper mâché planets. At Camp Manyung we bonded as a class as took on challenging activities like the ropes course, zip line and the giant swing. Later in the year we looked at what makes somewhere a good place to live and what we like about it. Starting with our own neighbourhoods we then researched other cities in Australia and around the World. We then went out on more excursions with Bowling in Frankston, Swimming at YAWA, a Beach Day at Mornington, and last but not least, our end of year trip to the Variety Christmas Party in Melbourne. Yes, it has been very eventful and rewarding year, and we look forward to more in 2025!
