AROUND THE COLLEGE
School Captain News!
Congratulations to our elected 2025 School Captains, Finlay Powell and Georgia Tyrell. Finn and Georgia will be wonderful leaders and ambassadors for our school community during the next 12 months and we can not wait for them to get started.
Introducing our 2025 Vice School Captains Owen and Nakiah. Both Owen and Nakiah have been terrific young humans who have grown in our college during the last 5 years. They will be great leaders in their own right and wonderful supports to our college captains Georgia and Finn. We wish them both well in 2025.
BJ O'Toole Wadawurrung Artist Workshop
Thursday 7th and Friday 8th of November Western Heights alumni and Wadawurrung man Billy Jay O'Toole returned to run a cultural heritage and Papul art workshop with our First Nations students. After listening to BJ's story and experiences of connecting to culture through art, students were encouraged to tell their own stories through their artworks. This project is part of a bigger Gathering Circle that will be created for all students to observe and connect to First Nations Culture in 2025. Huge Nyatne to BJ for connecting with us we look forward to seeing your work around the community in the future!
Connection Leads to Opportunity
Following the Papul art workshop year 7 Hunter Jacobs volunteered to be BJ's apprentice at Northern Bay Primary School. BJ and Hunter spent three full on days creating some awesome murals with the students there. We are very proud of you Hunter and can't wait to see where art takes you next!
Students at WHC are encouraged to ‘Call Out’ poor behaviours they may be exposed to, witness, or hear of in our community.
If you hear something that is not right, or feel uncomfortable in our community, we want to hear from you!
Students are encouraged to email their Year Level address, where concerns will be resolved.
