Principal News

Thank you Miss Slann

I would like to take a moment to express the school's gratitude to Miss Slann for her contributions to our school over the past two years in the Numeracy Intervention space. Her dedication and expertise have made a significant impact on our students' learning and confidence in mathematics.

Miss Slann supported students who needed extra help with numeracy, providing personalised instruction and strategies to help them succeed. Through her efforts, many of our students have not only improved their numeracy skills but have also developed a greater love for learning.

Thank you, Miss Slann, for your outstanding service to our school community. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours and know that you will continue to make a difference wherever you go.

Year 5 Letter Writing and Arcare Visits

I am incredibly proud to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our Year 5 students who recently participated in a meaningful writing project. Students wrote compelling letters to Mr. Nick Staikos (State Member for Bentleigh), the Honorable Mark Dreyfus (Australian Attorney General and Federal Member for Isaacs), School Council President Hayley Rogers, and myself. Their letters highlighted the need for school improvements and demonstrated the power of writing for an authentic purpose.

As a result of their persuasive letters, Mr. Staikos and Mr. Dreyfus visited our school to acknowledge the students' efforts personally. This also provided me with an invaluable opportunity to remind our local politicians about the urgent need for a facility upgrade at our school.

The writing pieces not only showcased their writing skills but also their commitment to improving our school community. We will continue to persist in our efforts to secure the necessary upgrades for our school, inspired by the determination and advocacy demonstrated by our students.

I would like to again acknowledge our wonderful Year 5 students for their recent visits to Arcare. These visits have been incredibly meaningful, not only for the residents of Arcare but also for our students, who have shown great compassion and community spirit.

During their visits, the Year 5 students engaged with the residents through various activities, bringing joy and companionship to everyone involved. Their kindness and enthusiasm have made a significant impact, building connections across generations.

I am immensely proud of our students for their dedication and the positive difference they have made in our community. These experiences are invaluable, teaching our students the importance of empathy, respect, and service to others.

Keep up the fantastic work, Year 5! Your voices are powerful, and your contributions are making a real difference. I am excited to see you step up as the student leaders of our school next year in Year 6.

Kinder Visits

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming children and educators from two of our local kindergartens, 'All about Children' and 'Friendship Square ELC', to our school. These visits are a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our relationships with local Early Learning Centres, building a sense of community.

During their visits, the children utilised both our library and enjoyed playing on our playground. These experiences are invaluable, helping to build connections and ease the transition for young children, of which many will soon be starting their school journey with us next year.

Goodstart Early Learning will be visiting us before the year is out. We look forward to continuing these community exchanges and building lasting partnerships with our local kindergartens.

Thank you to Mrs Ward for her organisation of these visits.

Curriculum Day - Friday 13 December

I would like to remind you that Friday, 13 December will be a student-free day. On this day, our staff will be working in their 2025 teams to plan and develop high-quality teaching and learning programs for the upcoming school year.

This planning day is crucial for ensuring that we continue to provide the best educational experiences for our students. We appreciate your understanding and support as our teachers and staff take this time to prepare for a successful 2025.

Enjoy your weekend,
