Year 6 News

Democracy

We have been learning about types of government and how they are run in each country. To give an insight into how voting as part of a democracy works, students organised and ran a mock election. Each student was given a ballot paper to choose from with a variety of lollies. Whatever lolly was voted most popular was then awarded to the Year 6 cohort.

In this case, it was the Jolly Rancher who was victorious.

The Lolly election was fun, first you waited in line outside the voting centre. Then, when it was your time to vote you would proceed to a booth to lodge your selection from 1-10. By Olive, Year 6 student

Fete

Year 6 successfully ran two separate stalls. One with a choice of temporary tattoos which were illustrated by students and a selection of carnival games which aimed to test various skills with some target specific games. Overall, it was great fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We had so much fun at the fete, we went on the ‘spinniest’ rides and even though we felt sick after it was the best ride we had been on. The fete was such a good experience! By
