Reading
This week in reading, we explored the role of rocks and boulders within a narrative. Learners examined how these elements contributed to a story and how problems in a plot were built up, leading to an exciting conclusion.
Writing
In writing, we delved into the concepts of "rocks" and "boulders" within a narrative. Learners identified the key features of an exciting ending and described the elements that made it thrilling. They also had the opportunity to incorporate "rocks" into their own stories and created their own exciting endings.
Maths
In maths, students learned directional language to give clear instructions. They practised giving directions from a first-person perspective and explored the transformation and enlargement of shapes.
Spelling
This week in spelling, learners focused on how to change nouns or verbs ending in "y" to "ies." They identified words with "y" at the end, described the rule for transforming these words, and applied the rule to create plural forms. Learners reflected on their understanding of this new spelling rule.
Inquiry
In inquiry, we investigated the occurrence of natural disasters and their impact on the Earth’s surface. Learners discovered why certain countries experience more natural disasters than others, and explained these events and their effects in their own words, reflecting on their observations and questions.
