Assistant Principal's report

I want to give a shout out to Kalinda teachers who have been working very hard in every available minute preparing comprehensive end of year reports for your child. These reports will include a reflection on your child's year, achievements within our Learning Behaviours checklist, Maths, English and Inquiry learning and Specialist subjects. An ongoing companion to our reporting is the Compass Continuum. This is a checklist of all curriculum outcomes from pre-school through to Year 12. Over the years this will build a clear picture of your child's academic progression as well as their next steps. If you are keen to know what goals your child has next, it is as simple as looking forward in the continuum.
End of year reports will be published in the last week of school and I want to take the opportunity to remind Grade 6 and exiting families to ensure that all reports are downloaded to your own files from Compass as after the end of year rollover you will no longer have access to your Compass account.
Until 16th December, we will be collecting toys and gifts under our Kalinda Giving Tree in the school foyer. We have already received quite a few donations and I am very grateful to those children who have spent time thinking of others in this way.
These donations will be collected by the wonderful people at Uniting who support local families experiencing homelessness, poverty and economic disadvantage. You can read more about their work here. If your child would like to contribute to our collection, please consider helping them to select a small unwrapped and unused gift to place under our tree.
I wanted to give families plenty of notice in case you would like to contribute. There is of course no expectation to participate in our donation drive. I have attached a flyer below from Uniting which outlines the sorts of gifts most appreciated at Christmas. Donations can be brought any time from 2nd December and will be collected by Uniting on Monday 16th December.
This year we are also once again a collection point for donations of Christmas lolly or chocolate stockings. Ex-parent Melynda and ex-student Charlye (G6 2023) will be collecting these to donate to luncheons held for vulnerable families in the local community. Thank you to the Daley family for continuing to lead by example with your kindness and generosity. A donation box is in the school foyer.
Take care Kalinda, you matter to me.
