Sports Awards Presentation

On Tuesday,  we held the 2024 Sports Awards presentation. The sports awards acknowledge all students' school sports achievements. St Mary's Catholic College students participated exceptionally well in sports, representing the College. 

 

2024 Sports Success:

  • Five of our CISSA teams made the grand finals
  • Four of our JSS teams made the grand finals
  • St Mary's were TCS Cross Country Champions
  • St Mary's were TCS Track and Field Champions
  • Water Polo girls team FNQ Champions
  • Volleyball senior boys FNQ Champions
  • Bentley 7’s Junior Mixed soccer champions
  • 458 of our students participated in SMCC sports teams in 2024
  • 287 of our students represented TCS
  • 48 of our students represented Peninsula
  • 2 of our students achieved QLD School Sports Representation
  • Five of our students achieved National Sports Representation

Thank you to our students, teachers, and sponsors who invest a lot of time, dedication, and commitment into representing the College on the sporting stage. 

 

We thank your 2024 House leaders for their tireless work in 2024 and wish them all the very best on their next adventure. Sports teach us teamwork, discipline, leadership, and resilience. Sport aligns with the College guiding principles of Empathy, Community, Perseverance, Dignity, and Dialogue. 

 

We are extremely proud of our students' sports achievements and continue to provide opportunities for them to excel. 

 

 


JSS Grand Finals

Congratulations to our AFL, Touch Football Girls, Basketball Girls, and Volleyball Boys for competing in the JSS Grand finals on Wednesday. 

 

All teams put in a tremendous effort, and all grand finals went down to the wire. 

St Mary's won the JSS Basketball Girls' competition, beating St Andrews 33-26. Jenny Nguyen was named player of the final. 

 


KEY INFORMATION 

Junior Sports Program - Key Information:

All sports information is uploaded to the Sports Canvas page. 

Year 7, 8 and 9 Students: Wednesday, Periods 5 and 6.

  • All students wear their St Mary's sports uniform (Sports Shirt, shorts, and SMCC socks). They must also bring a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. 
  • Please refer to the Junior Sports Plan to know what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet at 1:30 pm.
  • JSS teams played semifinals in week 6. We had good wins in:
  • Touch Football girls 
  • Volleyball boys
  • Basketball girls 
  • AFL
  • St Mary's JSS teams: The touch Football girls will play in the Premier League grand final. The Volleyball boys, Basketball girls, and AFL teams will play in the Division 1 grand finals in Week 7. 
  • Please meet at the Nazareth Pavilion at 12.00 pm start of period 4.
  • JSS teams will be playing semi-finals in Week 6. Please meet at the Nazareth Pavilion at 12.45 pm start of Period 5.

Senior Sports Program - Key Information:

Year 10 and 11 Students: Tuesday, Periods 5 and 6

  • Year 10 and 11 students wear house shirts and sports shorts (House Shirt, SMCC sports shorts and SMCC socks).
  • Year 10 and 11 students, please refer to the Senior Sports plan to determine what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet at 1:30 p.m.
  • Year 12 students will engage in their Year 12 program for Semester 2.

TCS & PENINSULA TRIAL INFORMATION

PENINSULA PAPERWORK

Students wishing to trial for TCS must complete the Peninsula paperwork before they can trial. This can be downloaded from the Sports Canvas page, or a printed copy can be collected from the leaflet box outside the Sports Office (near the Sports Mailbox).

 

Parents must complete the Peninsula Paperwork before the student can attend the TCS trials. 

 

The Sports Department will seek the relevant approvals from the College Leadership Team. Two days after submission, students can collect the Peninsula Paperwork from the Sports Office at lunch. 

 

Students must take this paperwork to the TCS trials (unless it is paper nominations). If it is a paper nomination, parents must submit it via the link/QR code provided.
