There is much to celebrate as we venture into this 2026 school year. As I write this, I look out at one of the beautiful views we are blessed to enjoy at this Christian school. Some students and staff are purposefully striding towards their classes, but not all. Earlier this week, our new expanded Year 7 cohort, which is something to celebrate, ventured to their four-day camp at Camp Coolamatong in Gippsland. Today, they are resting!
Last year, there was a promise of a brand-new facility for our senior school students; this year, it is a reality. Again, something to celebrate! Those present at the Secondary Welcome Evening on February 10 would have found, in addition to another vantage point from which we can marvel at God’s creation, this new multistorey facility offers an excellent learning space for students in Years 11 and 12.
Previously, our senior school's common areas were away from learning spaces. This new facility provides something different. Central to the building are our two large break-out spaces. On the ground floor, there is a tiered seating area and a common space. The tiered seating area offers the opportunity, as it did earlier today, to assemble all Year 11 and 12 students in one space. Additionally, on this level, Year 11 and 12 students have access to a kitchenette, and we certainly look forward to the adjoining café being completed and operational in term 2.
At the top of the internal stairs of this building, the first floor opens into two large study zones. Overlooking the main college oval is an expansive area that offers students opportunities to study either independently or at larger communal tables. Also on this level is a second study zone with both booths and individual seats. This is a quieter space. Included in this new build are four modern and bright classrooms and office spaces for senior school leaders.
It is my hope that facilities such as the new senior school act to support the flourishing of our student body as they engage in learning about God’s world and embrace the invitation before each of us to live out of Kingdom values in all we do, including education.
Of course, I would like to thank parents who were able to attend the Secondary Welcome Evening. I am also appreciative of parents who came to assist and/or watch their children at our recent PVCC Secondary House Swimming Carnival. We value the way we partner with parents in supporting our students.
In Christ,
Chris Prior
