At Brighton Beach Primary School, wellbeing is not something we treat as an “extra” — it sits at the heart of everything we do. That is why we are proud to continue working with The Resilience Project, for the 8th year!
Throughout the year, our classrooms will actively explore the core pillars of the program: Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. These are not just words on a poster — they are skills our students are learning to practise every day.
We often see students pause to reflect on what they are thankful for, take a mindful breath before responding in a challenging moment, and show greater understanding when a peer is feeling upset. In yarning circles, students are building their emotional vocabulary and learning that all feelings are valid — but how we respond to them matters.
What we value most about The Resilience Project is its practical, preventative approach. Rather than waiting for difficulties to arise, we explicitly teach students strategies they can use when things feel tricky — whether that’s friendship challenges, learning setbacks or big changes. By normalising conversations around emotions, we are helping to remove stigma and build confidence in seeking support. Teachers use the curriculum materials provided by TRP, which complement the activities in their TRP Journal.
The aim is simple but powerful:
Students use shared wellbeing language, they demonstrate increased empathy, and approach challenges with greater perseverance. Classrooms feel calmer, conversations are deeper, and relationships are stronger.
Resilience grows best when school and home work together. We encourage you to continue conversations about gratitude, empathy and mindfulness at home — even small daily reflections can make a meaningful difference.
Ask your child about their latest shoutout or what they are grateful for.
