BBPS 2026 Swimming carnival

Last Friday, we held our annual BBPS Swim Carnival for our Year 3–6 students. It was a fantastic day filled with excitement, participation, and strong BBPS spirit.

A huge thank you to Mr Ancrum for organising such a wonderful event, and to all the parents who volunteered — we truly could not run these events without your support. Congratulations to the many students who will now represent BBPS at District level, and well done to all students who participated and proudly earned points for their house.

Go Wilson!

A highlight of the day was the much-anticipated parent/house captain/teacher race — and while the BBPS teachers didn’t take the win this year, they’re confident they’ll get them next year!

Japanese University students visiting Wednesday 25th February – Sunday 1st March.

We are excited to welcome Japanese university students to our school from Wednesday 25 February to Sunday 1 March, hosted by BBPS. This special visit provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about Japanese language, culture, and traditions through authentic, real-life experiences.

During their time with us, the university students will be working across the school, supporting classroom learning and facilitating a range of engaging activities. They will share their knowledge, experiences, and cultural traditions with our students, helping to build cultural understanding and global awareness.

We are looking forward to this enriching cultural exchange and the valuable learning experiences it will bring for our school community. Thank you to all the families who are hosting - we ended up with an abundance of generous offers!

Curriculum nights

Thank you to all families who attended our Curriculum Nights this week. It was wonderful to see so many members of our school community involved. The partnership between school and home is very important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to share information about your child’s learning and the year ahead.

A reminder that our curriculum booklet has been shared via Compass and provides an overview of key learning areas and expectations for the year. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

We also encourage families to read the following interesting article to better understand why we begin the school year by building strong classroom communities.

Thanks to our wonderful teachers for their time and effort to prepare such great sessions - their passion for learning shone through in the way they spoke about BBPS and our curriculum.

Slides will be shared by teaching teams in their next bi-weekly level comms.

BBPS Welcome BBQ Friday 27 February from 4.00pm–7.30pm.

Annual policy share

We invite you to view our Child Safety; Volunteer and Visitor Policies, which are available on our website https://www.brightonbeachps.vic.edu.au/school-accountability-policies

These policies outline our commitment to ensuring our students are safe when working with adults within our school.

Volunteer Reminder – Working With Children Check (WWCC)

As detailed in our Volunteer Policy, we greatly value the support of our wonderful volunteers who contribute their time and effort to our school community. Please be reminded that all volunteers must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) in order to participate in any school activities, excursions, or classroom support.

This is an important requirement that helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. If you need to update or provide your WWCC details, please contact the school office.
