❄️🏅 Winter Olympics Week at Their Care🏅❄️

Throughout last week, our students in TheirCare explored Winter Olympic activities and learned about sports from around the world. One highlight was Winter Olympics Bingo, where we talked about different sports and what makes each one unique.

We also got creative with art and craft by making our own Opening Ceremony torches using white paper and red, yellow and orange tissue paper. The children coloured their own versions of the Olympic rings and created their own Australian flags after closely observing the real one for inspiration.

We watched part of Australia’s opening ceremony and spotted the torch we had been recreating, which the children were very excited about. We also watched short clips of Winter Olympic sports to help the children see how athletes compete in snow and ice.

Winter Olympic Yoga

To support movement and mindfulness, we introduced Winter Olympic Yoga. The children practised poses inspired by winter athletes, including:

  • Snowboarder — Warrior 2 pose
  • Figure Skater — Warrior 3 pose
  • Hockey Player — Horse stance
  • Alpine Skier — Chair pose
  • Curler — Lunge pose

This activity helped build balance, coordination and body awareness while encouraging imaginative play.
