Swimming Carnival Sees Farrer Reign Supreme!

On Tuesday 10 February, students from Years 3 to 12 gathered at the Cobram Outdoor Pool for our annual Swimming Carnival. Participation levels were outstanding, with competitive races and plenty of house spirit on display throughout the day.

Congratulations to Farrer House, who claimed the overall title with 729 points, finishing ahead of Parkes House (631), Cowell (568) and Stanyer (399). It marks Farrer’s first Swimming Carnival victory in eight years — a fantastic achievement!

Victorious captains of Farrer House Peter Everingham, Ely Elliott, Lewis Diaco and Summer Elliott proudly hold the swimming shield.

It was wonderful to see students embracing every opportunity to earn points for their house, whether competing in races or contributing in the flotation lane. Every point counted and the enthusiasm across all year levels was evident, not just in the pool, but also in the way students cheered on competitors from the sidelines!

A sincere thank you to our Parents and Friends for running the BBQ fundraiser and providing Zooper Doopers at the end of the day — both were greatly appreciated by students. The P&F group extends its thanks to all families who supported the sausage sizzle, along with Supreme Meats, Cobram for their generous support. Funds raised have contributed to the purchase of new sports tops for students to wear at the various sports carnivals we participate in.

Thank you also to the many staff who assisted with set up, pack up and poolside duties to ensure the day ran smoothly. Finally, we appreciate the parents, carers and family members who came along to cheer on our students — your support adds so much to events like these. Well done to everyone involved on a fantastic day of competition and house spirit!

Also competing at this meet were Aiden Power (Year 8) and Sam Brown (Year 10). Aiden did an incredible job to finish 6th in the 3000m event, running a 3 second PB and 2 seconds faster than the national qualifying time!

Sam tackled the steeple chase for the very first time and didn’t just compete — he ran the national qualifying time in the 800m event, finishing 5th and making the final – an amazing effort at his first attempt!
