Shrove Tuesday Fun
The smell of pancakes filled the air on Tueday morning as our Year 12 students cooked up a delicious breakfast — and they certainly didn’t complain about taste-testing along the way!
By lunchtime, the whole school got involved as students gathered at the basketball court for one of our favourite traditions… the annual pancake races! There were plenty of laughs, impressive flipping skills and a healthy dose of competitive spirit across all year levels!
For some background, Shrove Tuesday is a Christian festival celebrated in many countries across the globe. It falls on the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent – a period of around six weeks leading up to Easter. During Lent, Christians give up luxuries to remember when Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray.
Ash Wednesday Chapel
We were delighted to welcome the Rev’d Roberta Hamilton to lead our Ash Wednesday Chapel service this week, marking the beginning of Lent — a special moment of reflection and faith for our school community and expression of our Anglican Identity.
Rev’d Roberta encouraged students to see Lent as a time for “turning around and getting back on track”, reminding us of the importance of listening to God, who loves us and is always there for us.
