We commenced the term with our first Pupil Free Day on Tuesday 27th January. Staff participated in professional learning around Responsive Teaching with a half day seminar with Bronwyn Ryrie-Jones. There was also time for start-up processes including team meetings and classroom preparation for the start of the new term. It was an invaluable learning time together and also allowed a smooth transition for new and returning students on Wednesday.
We have another Pupil Free Day planned for Term 2 on Monday 18th May. The staff will be working on this day with our Department Coach in the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework.
Our staff will have the Report Writing Day on Friday 5th June which will also be Pupil Free. This ties into the King's Birthday long weekend. We will have 1 more Curriculum Pupil Free Day over Terms 3 – 4 and one Professional Practice Day (PPD) which is Pupil Free. These dates are yet to be determined.
Our Their Care program will be operating on Monday 18th May and Friday 5th June for any families who require care on this day.

Our Level 3 and 5 students completed their NAPLAN assessments from 16th to 23rd March. Much of these assessments are now online with only the Level 3 Writing task being pen to paper.
NAPLAN is reported in Bands. The 4 bands are Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs Additional Support. These bands were introduced in 2023 and this change has resulted in an inability for schools to compare student growth results 2022 - 2024. We have started with a new data set from 2023 and all comparisons will be made into the future from now.
All of the participating students engaged with the testing positively and we are very proud of their efforts.
On Thursday 5th March our whole school came together to participate in the Cross Country. Our levels ran laps of the school competing for their House and every participant counted towards the winning House for the day. It was wonderful to see the Level 6 students supporting our littlest runners on the day and then in turn, the Foundation students lined the track to cheer on their buddies.
A huge thank you to Mitch Clark and Meg Hubbard for organising the running of the event, and to all of the staff for putting in their all to support the students to participate in any way they could. Congratulations to Arbor House for taking out the day! Go Arbor!
On Wednesday 25th March we held our annual Senior School Athletics Carnival. It was a fabulous day with students in Levels 3 - 6 all competing in a range of track and field events. We celebrated effort and giving everything a go. It was wonderful to see so many students trying really hard and supporting each other.
Thank you to all of the parent helpers, the students from Vermont Secondary College, and the wonderful Rangeview staff - who collectively made this day such a success. A huge thank you to our formidable PE team - Meg Hubbard and Mitch Clark who planned and ran the day.

Once each term we have a whole school celebration day. This term we celebrated Harmony Day on Friday 20th March. There was a focus on cultural diversity and students worked in buddy grades on activities and lessons that educate and celebrate our community’s cultural diversity.
We we delighted that so many students came to school in a costume that represents their cultural heritage. We loved the smoking ceremony with Aunty Merm and the Bollywood dace session to end the day.

This week our Level 5 student are at the wonderful Waratah Bay Surf Camp. They have taken part in a range of outdoor activities including a surf lesson in the waves and a day of rock pooling. We expect our campers to arrive home tonight very tired and happy.
A huge thank you to the staff who have attended with them - Tegan Cant, Kelly James, Meg Hubbard, Lee Giddings, Luke McDonald, and Mitch Clark. Also a huge thank you to our parents - Mark Bennett, Thomas Morgan, Meaghan Robinson and Rajesh Kumar.

On Saturday 28th February our wonderful fathers group RAFT ran another hugely successful school camp out. Over 140 members of our school community joined the RAFT leaders to camp overnight on the oval.
Despite the dreadful oval surface, the campers had a wonderful time with water play, treasure hunts, pizza dinner, toasting marshmallows, sleeping under stars, and a BBQ breakfast.
Our thanks go to Byron Wilding and Simon Tan for putting on this event for our community. A reminder to families that both of these wonderful dads are finishing up at the end of 2026 and we are in need of new RAFT leaders!

We have a wonderful P&F Committee at RPS and they truly make the school what it is - through events that they run, fundraising that they organise, community connections that they facilitate, and childhood memories that they instil.
I would encourage any parent who has a little time to give, even if it is only on occasion, to sign up to our wonderful P & F committee and help us build our school. This year is a Fair year and the committee needs all of the assistance we can give.
The link to sign up is https://volunteersignup.org/4FH8E
We remind families that it is important to record any family holidays into COMPASS to explain the student absence.
Thank you to all of our families for supporting the school events this term. We have a host of adventures to come in Term 2 - including;
We wish all of our families a safe and restful holiday period and we look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 20th April.
