YEAR 7 - A Positive and Exciting start to High School

A Positive and Exciting start to High School

Thank you for your support in ensuring such a settled and positive start to the high school year. Our students have returned focused, respectful and ready to learn, which reflects the strong partnership between home and school.

We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to a successful term ahead. Our year 7 students have already embraced many exciting opportunities in the classroom.

Thank you to all the parents and carers for attending our Year 7 Welcome BBQ. It was fantastic to meet our families.

We are looking forward to seeing all parents and carers at our Year 7, 8 and 9 Parent/Teacher evening on Tuesday 23rd of June between 3 and 7pm. This will be held in our new School Gymnasium.

Online Safety Social Media Delay

From 10 December 2025, new national laws came into effect that delay access to major social media platforms for users under 16 years old. Officially this is called the Social Media Minimum Age requirement, and while often described as a “ban,” it’s technically a delay in allowing account creation and use until age 16.

Despite age limits, some students under 16 continue to use platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat, which can sometimes bring relationship concerns and online conflict into the school environment.

If your child is using social media, we encourage you to:

  • Have regular, open conversations about what they are viewing and who they are communicating with.
  • Explain why age restrictions exist — to protect privacy, wellbeing and safety.
  • Set clear family expectations around screen time, device use at night, and appropriate online behaviour.
  • Check privacy settings and make use of available parental controls.
  • Monitor for changes in mood, sleep or behaviour that may signal online concerns.
  • Delete Apps that are not permitted.

The most effective safeguard is ongoing communication and guidance. Supporting young people to build safe and responsible digital habits is important for all families. There are many resources available to support parents/carers through the E-safety Commissioner website.
