IN THE ART ROOM

We have been exploring all things French to celebrate the Olympics.

Have you seen our fireworks and French landmark pictures? They are displayed in the Office and Gallery.

Students have learnt all about Claude Monet, the famous French Impressionist artist.

Prep - 2 students manipulated paper by folding and cutting to create waterlilies while 5/6 students painted an impressionist waterlily pond.  So beautiful!

Year 3/4 students studied the visual effects of line while drawing an athlete competing at the Olympics. No outlines were allowed, just contoured parallel lines showing the different parts of the athlete. How effective do these look?

IN THE MUSIC ROOM

We have also been listening to famous pieces of music composed by French musicians such as Bolero by Maurice Ravel, made famous by ice skating duo, Torvill and Dean. They won gold in 1984 Olympics with a perfect score to this famous piece of music. We have also enjoyed the Can Can and noticed how the tempo was quite different to Bolero!

Prep/1 have been learning about beat and how we can move our bodies to the beat.

We learnt 2 dances this week, The Pony Gallop and The Shearers' Skip... lots of fun!
